Casandra “Cassie” Ventura will not conceal her identity behind anonymity in the upcoming Diddy trial.
The singer is set to testify under her own name in the case of her ex-boyfriend, who faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. A motion filed on April 4th confirmed that Cassie is “Victim-1” in the case, with prosecutors noting she has agreed to testify publicly. In contrast, three other victims have requested anonymity, and prosecutors have asked that they be referred to by pseudonyms.
The case involves allegations that Diddy used “force, threats of force, and coercion” to make people participate in “freak offs,” which prosecutors describe as “elaborate and produced sex performances.” The indictment includes new charges related to a second victim, and Diddy faces multiple counts of trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. Cassie, who had previously accused Diddy of abuse, is expected to testify about an alleged hotel altercation in 2016, further supported by controversial footage from CNN that Diddy’s legal team claims was altered.
Despite Diddy denying the charges and pleading not guilty, he remains in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center as he awaits trial. The case continues to unfold, with more than 60 lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct.
