Once the school assembled class-wise, rumors started that perhaps a gas leak or fire had occurred. But, as I said, no one knew. Some teachers were unaware of why we were gathered outside in the sun. Only a few people knew the real reason for our gathering outside.
It seemed like they didn’t want us to know right away, perhaps to avoid causing panic or chaos. After a while, while we were still outside, they shared with us that they had received some kind of threat and the situation was under control. A team was inspecting the school.
That’s when things started becoming a little clearer for us. But still there was no panic. We followed the instructions given. Some of the younger children cried, but teachers were there to calm them and tell them that their parents were coming to pick them up.
Once we came back outside we were told that buses were ready to take the children back home. The drivers and our parents were informed and were waiting outside at the gate. The gates were assigned in advance, so we knew which gate to exit.
